The Carson Valley Middle School seventh-grade girls' basketball team has opened its season 5-0.
Carson Valley beat Alder Creek 23-8 to open the year as McKenna Kynett scored six points, Makayla Shaver had four, Maddie Lowe had three and Mari Pimental, Madison Ryan, Kaleigh Carlson, Terra Williams and Kaitlyn Rhoads each had two.
Kynett led the Tigers to a 23-11 win over Eagle Valley with seven points while Shaver had six points and Pimental, Lowe, Carlson, Johnnie Saletti and Williams each had two.
Carson Valley beat Carson 19-13 in a game that saw Kynett score 10 points, Williams put up four, Ryan three and Shaver two.
Kynett again led the team with 14 points in a 27-9 win over South Tahoe. Rhoads chipped in four, Lowe, Ence, Shaver and Saletti each had two and Pimental had one.
That set up a rivalry win over Pau-Wa-Lu, 29-12. Shaver led the team with eight points, Kynett, Ryan and Rhoads each had four, Sarah Carter had three and Pimental, Williams and Shelby Patterson each had two.
The Carson Valley eighth-graders got off to a 3-2 start, beating Alder Creek, South Tahoe and Pau-Wa-Lu and losing to Carson and Eagle Valley.
The top scorers for the team have been Lane Waggoner, Corryne Millett, Shayla Gransbery, Kalin Ingstad and Maddie Parks.
Top defenders and rebounders have been Mandy Weaver, Chelsea Perko, Emily Schmidt, Leanna Temple, Sammy Doane, Chelsea Chambers and Delaney Jacobson.
