A Stateline man faces at least 10 years in prison after he admitted a charge of trafficking for selling methamphetamine to undercover officers.
Jamaal Mansoor Eslami, 28, is currently serving a prison sentence in California for a related charge.
Eslami was the subject of a Sept. 21, 2009, drug sting in which he had sold 130 grams of methamphetamine on three occasions starting on Sept. 14. When he realized the fourth buy was a set-up, Eslami rammed an unmarked police car during his escape. He was arrested in South Lake Tahoe two days later for possession of a controlled substance. He was convicted and sentenced in December 2009 to two years in prison.
Eslami was extradited back to Douglas County from California State Prison in Avenal in May.
On Monday, Eslami appeared in Douglas County District Court as part of a plea agreement.
Eslami answered Judge Michael Gibbons quietly when asked if he wanted to admit to the charge which carries a penalty of 10 years to life in prison.
"This is not a happy occasion for Mr. Eslami," attorney Derrick Lopez said. "That's why he seems reluctant to answer."
Eslami confirmed for Gibbons that the charge is accurate.
In addition to a prison sentence the maximum fine is $500,000.
Eslami is not eligible for probation.
