Tonight, 6 p.m. at Coleville High School, there will be an Eastern Sierra Unified School District meeting, which will discuss boundaries for the schools that students may attend while living in the district. It sounds like it will certainly be worthwhile information for parents in the valley to hear.

County meeting in Walker

Thursday, 6 p.m., Mono County will host a meeting at the Walker Community Center for valley residents regarding various items that could be occurring here in the near future.

Subjects discussed will include rules for home businesses, light industrial zoning in the area, and other similar topics. Please try to go and give your input.

Deer Hunters Barbecue

Saturday, 5- 8 p.m., at the Walker Community Center, the Antelope Valley Lions Club will hold its 46th annual Deer Hunters Family Barbecue. This deep pit prepared meal, with all the trimmings and wonderful desserts is a not-to-be-missed event every year. There will be raffles which include a $1,000 Visa gift card, hunting rifle with scope and tons of other super prizes that have been donated. The cost is $12 for adults and $5 for children under 12 years old. As with all their functions, this evening will raise funds for their community projects. Hope to see you there.

Candidates night

Friday, 6 p.m., at the community center, the Northern Mono Chamber of Commerce is holding a night for us to meet and hear the candidates for District 4 Supervisor, Superior Court Judge, and Eastern Sierra Unified School District trustee. If you haven't yet heard the candidates give their ideas and plans, this is your chance.

Coleville football

Our varsity football team has a 4-0 record in the league this year and will be playing home games at 1 p.m. the next two Saturdays. This weekend will be against Smith Valley, with Owyhee the following week. The kids are doing great, so get out and cheer for them.

This and that

The Friends of the Library will meet at the Coleville Library Wednesday, Oct. 7, 3 p.m. This is a great group and offers so much information, as well as books and other informative and fun entertainment. They always welcome new members, so check it out.

Health nurse Carolyn will be at the Walker Senior Center on Oct. 12 and Oct. 26 from 1 to 2 p.m. with flu shots available. It is sure a lot easier to get the shots here than to travel into town for them.
