Gardnerville resident Christian Hoyt, 18, is attending U.S. Army advanced individual training at Fort Eutis, Va., to become a mechanic on UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.
He graduated from Douglas High School in 2010, and from basic training at Fort Bening, Ga., on Sept. 9.
He is the son of Rosa and Brad Hoyt and brother to Michael, Johnanath and Candace Hoyt.
His mother said he hopes to be an Apache Longbow pilot.
