Benjamin (Ben) F. Hight

Ben Hight, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on March 26 at Evergreen Ormsby Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. Born in Independence, Kan., to Mary Alice Enz and Melvin Hayes Hight, he was "lucky 13" out of 18 children. He was raised in Missouri and Arkansas, where he graduated from Hiwassee High School in Arkansas. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Navy during WW II, serving in the Pacific as an electrician.

He was predeceased by his first wife of 38 years, DeLoris Mary Aldinger; by his second wife of 19 years Marcella Goodman; and grandson Kevin Hight.

He started his career with the telephone company in Glendale, Calif., and relocated to Carson City in 1960, where he continued working with the company as a line man, wire chief, and engineering manager until he retired after 35 years of service. He was a gifted handyman who could fix anything, and enjoyed helping others with any project whether it was rebuilding an engine, or pouring cement. Ben always had a smile and a "Hi" or "Howdy" for everyone he encountered. He was a long-standing member of St. Teresa's Church and St. Mary's in Virginia City.

Ben is survived by his daughter Jenny (John) Neill and son Wes Hight, both of Carson City; grandchildren Gary Neill all of Carson City, Laura Bliesner of Washington, Ben Hight, Sean Hight; great-grandson Jacob Neill of Carson City; sisters Virginia Shaw of Joplin, Mo., and Irene Benenate of Palm Coast, Fla.; stepchildren Leroy (Diana) Goodman of Fernley, Marlene (Joe) Pearson of Carson City, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Ben enjoyed residing at Carson Plaza Retirement in Carson City, where he met some very good friends. Ben will be missed by all who knew him. We love you Dad - until we meet again.

At Ben's request, no funeral will be held.

The staff at Evergreen Ormsby in Carson City in the Comfort Care section took extremely good care of Ben, which is very much appreciated by his family.
