A consultant on the proposed downtown redevelopment project behind the Carson Nugget has filed a business license for Sierra Digital Studios LLC.

Robert Hartman said the business will develop "virtual worlds" and applications for cell phones, iPads, Facebook and other devices.

The business location is 200 N. Stewart St., the former location of D'Vine Wine Tasting. Hartman said the business is part of the proposed City Center Project.

Candy-maker is getting new digs

Rebecca Bevans, owner of Carson City Confections, will sublease space with Yogo! Frozen Yogurt and Sweet Treats, 3250 Retail Drive, Suite 105.

Bevans started selling her Becky Roka about a year ago - a sweet and salty treat she's been perfecting since middle school. They come in a variety of flavors, too, such as mocha, lemon cream and smokey bacon. She sells them in various businesses around town.

Bevans had been making her candy in the kitchen at B'Sghetti's and will now use the kitchen at Yogo, which asked Bevans to join them at their new location near Carson City's north Walmart.

"We are going to expand the menu and include things like hand-rolled, hand-dipped truffles, cookies and possibly cupcakes," she said in an e-mail. "Plus whatever I feel like making."

Christie Fernquest, a general manager for Yogo, said they are planning on opening in about a month.

"We're just really pushing," said Fernquest, who will manage the yogurt shop with fellow Lake Side Properties Realtor Robert Bartshe. "It's probably going to be the first weekend in May."

Restaurant closes south of Carson City

Canyon Creek Grill and Bar has at least temporarily closed.

A sign posted on its door apologizes for any inconvenience, adding, "we will be closed temporarily."

The restaurant opened in July. Its original owners, Paul and Justin Schmidt, eventually sold the business to Raul Berumen in December.

The Schmidts opened another Canyon Creek Grill and Bar in Sacramento.
