Safeway: Clearing the ground for Joe Maffi's new building on the west side of Carson street is in progress. The building will be occupied by the Safeway Store under a lease of 10 years and will give the company its largest floor space in Nevada. Located on West Washington Street and near the main line track of the Virginia and Truckee Railway.

St. Peter's Episcopal Church will observe the foundation of Maundy Thursday evening with a parish potluck supper followed by celebration of Holy Community. Rev. Andrew Daughters, rector.

Dayton plans their 150th anniversary celebration. Dayton began as a sparsely populated mining camp and is now a thriving community of more than 8,500. The event is scheduled for two days May 26 and 27 and will pay special homage to the pioneer women.
