130 YEARS AGO

A few days ago it was rumored a squaw had been killed by the Indians for practicing witchcraft. The Silver State newspaper has the following story: It is stated with reliable authority the killing of a squaw after the burial of a brave in the Harmony Mountains. The Indians said the squaw was responsible for the deaths of four or five men of the tribe of which she entertained some grudge. They said she was Bannock and in league with the evil one.

100 YEARS AGO

The high wind of yesterday took out a few electric lines which were immediately repaired. The telephone people had a few down, which were repaired today. Neil Maher came up this morning and states the river is rising rapidly.

70 YEARS AGO

The officers of the Capitol Softball Association are to be elected. The nominating committee has been appointed by President Hugh Shamberger and is comprised of Ernest Pohl, Lester Smith, Earnest Adams, W. T. Holcomb and J. L. Harvey.

50 YEARS AGO

The 51st session of the legislature made history today, but some lawmakers wondered if they wouldn't be back for a special session in a year. The session adjourned after 76 days, the longest since the 90-day organizational meeting of 1865.
