130 YEARS AGO
A disastrous runaway. Sunday afternoon a pair of horses attached to a buggy containing three men were frightened by a dog at the south end of the city. Dashing ahead without guidance the vehicle was upset. All three were injured and it was a miracle all the men weren't killed as witnesses state they were thrown ten feet in the air before striking the ground. The horses were intercepted in the vicinity of the flume.
100 YEARS AGO
The city is quiet today as many residents left on a special train to Reno to hear ex-president Roosevelt deliver his talk. For the past two weeks our neighbor has been making ready despite high winds.
70 YEARS AGO
The regular meeting of Girl Scout Troop No. 3 was held at the home of Barbara Egan. Mrs. Mary Williams started the Scouts on a first aid course. Plans for an all-day hike during Easter Vacation were announced.
50 YEARS AGO
The Carson City Jaycees paid tribute to past officers and installed new officers Saturday. New officers included Jim Rose, Edward Smith, Donald Cave, Tom Fettic and Russ Hathaway.

WNCC's new multipurpose building cafeteria is dedicated to Marvin Sedway.

Carson City considers raising sewer and water rates ... the first time in 10 years.
