Visitors bureau to discuss event advisory panel

The Carson City Convention & Visitors Bureau is set to discuss forming an event advisory committee when it meets this week.

Members will meet at 4 p.m. Monday in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.

They also are scheduled to discuss a tentative budget for fiscal year 2011-12, and will hear advertising and public relations reports as well as an update on the V&T.

Other meetings this week include:

• The Advisory Board to Manage Wildlife at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the BRIC, 108 E. Proctor St. For more information, call 887-2100.

• The Carson Area Metropolitan Planning Organization meets at 4:30 p.m. in the Sierra Room of the community center.

The CAMPO board is scheduled to approve an amendment to the Transportation Improvement Program to add a project requested for inclusion by the Nevada Department of Transportation.

Members also are scheduled to hear information regarding the draft CAMPO fiscal year 2012 Unified Planning Work Program.

• The Regional Transportation Commission meets immediately following CAMPO's adjournment in the Sierra Room.

Commission members are scheduled to award a contract to V & C Construction, Inc., for pedestrian improvements on East Long Street in the amount of $99,900.

The commission also will receive information from transit passenger surveys conducted March 15-16 on the fixed-route buses.

They also will discuss information on a potential shuttle service for the V&T Railroad. At the request of RTC Chairwoman Shelly Aldean, staff has conducted preliminary research into a potential shuttle service between the V&T's Eastgate Depot and downtown Carson City and area hotels.
