Frank Csiga Sr., a four-year resident of Carson City and a 50-year resident of Nevada, passed away at Carson Tahoe Hospital in Carson City after a brief bout of pneumonia. Frank was born and raised in Syracuse, N.Y., and was a 1952 graduate of Split Rock High School. After high school, Frank joined the U.S. Air Force, spending much of his service time in Europe where he met the love of his life, Elisabeth Antoinette Speekhoudt. They were wed in Amsterdam, Holland in 1956 and enjoyed married life together for more than 50 years. Upon returning to the United States in 1960, they settled in Las Vegas, where they resided for 45 years.
Frank was the last of seven children born to the late Alex and Mary Csiga. He was preceded in death by his wife Elisabeth. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brother Alex, sisters Mary, Laura, Lydia, and Clara; all of Syracuse. His remaining sister, Margaret "Midge" is a Syracuse resident. Frank will forever be remembered by his daughter Christine and son-in-law Keith Topham of Cartersville, Ga., and his son Frank Jr. and daughter-in-law Linda Csiga of Carson City. His loving granddaughters, Darcey and Haley Topham, and Sarah and Kerry Csiga will think of him always whenever they hear someone whistling a happy tune.
