100 YEARS AGO

Eight prisoners were released yesterday. Two of them, James King and John Gorman, made their way into town and began to fill up on whiskey and proceeded to do some house stunts. After a mixup with police and a member of the State Police, they are back in jail. The two were given appropriate sentences on the chain gang. There they work or they don't eat.

70 YEARS AGO

Andy Minetto of Reno last evening paid his official visit as Grand Chef de Gare of Nevada 40 & 8 Voiture No. 258 of Carson City. Sixteen Reno voyageurs accompanied the Grand chef de Gare to Carson and attended the meeting. The local voiture will clean the grave of Soldier Allen in the old Carson Cemetery south of the Walsh ranch. Allen is the last veteran buried in the cemetery.

50 YEARS AGO

Premier Fidel Castro hurls Communist-made MIG jet planes and tanks at invading rebel troops in an all-out attempt to drive them back to the sea.

The Nevada Women's Correction Center Warden is fired after her and her husband try to start an Old West brothel theme park in Silver City.

Parking access to East Shore beaches at Tahoe is going to be more difficult this summer. Posts are being installed to prevent erosion.
