The Baby Show: An exhibition of pretty babies and proud mothers at the Opera House attracted a number of visitors. The winners were: fattest baby, Ernest J. Sweetland; prettiest baby, Pearl Kennedy; best behaved baby, Ranie Lewis; darkest brunette, Louise Tenant; lightest blond, Tump Mara. After the award of prizes, the judging committee fled the hall, leaving by the rear door and have not been seen since. The mothers nearly caused a riot.
100 YEARS AGO
Carson is having a big treat. Dick Jose is coming to the Opera House to present "Silver Threads" with the tenor accompanying himself with scenic and detailed production.

Plans for cleanup week in Carson City were discussed at the 20-30 Club meeting when Chairman Melvin Fodrin made a report. Members of the club will man trucks to haul away debris placed by householders in gutters or along street lines.

The role of the late Richard L. (Dick) Waters Sr. as a citizen of the community and as a Lion was eulogized before Lions by former District Judge Clark J. Guild.

Prospective motorists would have to take a drug test before getting a driver's license under a new Senate bill.

Buzz Aldrin is in Carson City to promote the Western Nevada College Observatory. Aldrin was the lunar module pilot on Apollo 11.
