NL: Sanchez 1-hits Rockies

MIAMI (AP) - Anibal Sanchez held the Colorado Rockies hitless Friday night until Dexter Fowler led off the ninth inning with a broken-bat single. Sanchez then got the final three outs for a one-hitter and the Marlins won 4-1.

Sanchez (1-1) had a career-high nine strikeouts, and the run off him was unearned. He threw a no-hitter for Florida as a rookie in 2006, and his one-hitter was the second this season. Dan Haren of the Los Angeles Angels had one in a 2-0 victory over Cleveland on April 12.

The hit off Sanchez came on his 116th pitch, and the first of the ninth. Fowler pulled a single to right field past second baseman Omar Infante, ending the no-hit bid. Fowler was doubled off first on a lineout by Jonathan Herrera. When Carlos Gonzalez grounded out, Sanchez had the fourth complete game of his career and first since July 29.

Gaby Sanchez and Chris Coghlan homered for the Marlins, who won their fourth consecutive game. Rockies starter Jhoulys Chacin (3-1) allowed four runs in five innings.

Sanchez walked three, including Fowler to lead off the game. He was unfazed when a two-out fielding error by first baseman Gaby Sanchez allowed Fowler to score.

Mets 4, Diamondbacks 1

NEW YORK (AP) - Ike Davis hit a two-run homer and Mike Pelfrey had his first effective start of the season to lead the New York Mets to a come-from-behind victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Shut down by Joe Saunders for six-plus innings, Davis hit a drive to straightaway center field off Esmerling Vasquez (0-1) that appeared to hit above the orange line on the black wall.

David Wright, who walked leading off to end Saunders' night, scored. Davis stopped at second and waved his finger, questioning if it were a home run. After the umpires went off for 1 minute, 40 seconds, crew chief Gerry Davis emerged from the tunnel under the third base stands and gave the homer sign.

The run off Vasquez was the first earned run off Arizona relievers in 21 1-3 innings and gave the Mets their third win in five games. Pelfrey (1-2) gave up just five hits and a run in seven innings. He walked two and struck out four.

Dodgers 12, Cubs 2

CHICAGO (AP) - Juan Uribe hit a two-run homer, Andre Ethier extended his major league-best hitting streak to 19 games and the surging Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Chicago Cubs.

Uribe also had a run-scoring single in the Dodgers' six-run third inning and a sacrifice fly in the sixth, giving him nine RBIs in his last three games and 12 this year. Pinch-hitter Marcus Thames added a two-run drive in the ninth as Los Angeles set a season high for runs and hits (14).

Chad Billingsley (2-1) made the most of all that run support, pitching into the seventh in his second straight solid start. He also capped Los Angeles' biggest inning of the year with an RBI single for his first hit in 2011.

The Dodgers have won five of six, including three straight since Major League Baseball seized control of the team. Los Angeles grabbed control in the third and chased Casey Coleman (1-1).

Brewers 14, Astros 7

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Ryan Braun hit a go-ahead three-run homer in his first game since signing a $105 million, five-year contract extension to lift the Brewers over the Houston Astros.

Milwaukee scored in every inning but the first and eighth. Brewers ace Yovani Gallardo hit a solo home run off starter Nelson Figueroa (0-3) and Carlos Gomez added a three-run shot in the seventh.

Gallardo (2-1) labored for a third straight start despite getting plenty of run support over his six innings.

Both manager Brad Mills and pitching coach Brad Arnsberg were ejected in the second inning as the Astros fell to 0-13 when allowing four or more runs.

Phillies 2, Padres 0

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Cole Hamels held his punchless hometown Padres to four hits in eight innings and the Philadelphia Phillies won, handing San Diego its second straight shutout and third in five games.

The Phillies have thrown consecutive four-hitters against the Padres, who have gone 21 scoreless innings since Wednesday night's win in a split doubleheader at Chicago. San Diego has been shut out a major league-leading six times in 20 games. It was Philadelphia's major league-leading fifth shutout.

Hamels (2-1), who went to San Diego's Rancho Bernardo High, got all the support he needed when Ryan Howard hit a two-run triple off Clayton Richard (1-1) with two outs in the third. Hamels struck out eight and walked three. Braves 4, Giants 1

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Chipper Jones hit a two-run double, Jason Heyward and Freddie Freeman each singled in runs during a decisive four-run third inning to back Tommy Hanson and the Atlanta Braves beat the San Francisco Giants.

The Braves knocked Madison Bumgarner (0-3) out early and showed no signs of fatigue following a 5-3, 12-inning loss at Los Angeles on Thursday, taking the opener of a weekend series and rematch of last fall's NL division series won by the World Series champion Giants.

Hanson (2-3), who had a no-decision in Game 2 of the playoffs against the Giants, struck out seven and walked one in seven strong innings as the Braves won for just the second time in their last six games.
