Ron Paul is right choice

for president in 2012

Four years ago, I went to a rally at the University of Nevada, Reno, and met a man who changed my life. That man was Congressman Ron Paul.

He changed my life because until that time, I didn't think there was anyone in Washington who shared my views about peace, sound money, individual liberty and the Constitution.

It was a revelation to hear Ron Paul speak that day, and he gave me faith that at least one person was working for me in D.C.

I went on to do everything I could to help Ron secure the GOP presidential nomination. I failed. But since that time, everything Ron Paul predicted has come true.

He's been right about the economy, our failed wars, and our miserable budget.

His ideas can take our nation out of certain ruin and back to prosperity. This can only happen if he's president.

Donate books to library, don't throw them away

There are three large contribution bins just inside our community library at Washington and Roop streets. Any books would be appreciated.

I see hundreds of books at garage sales and ask, "Why don't you donate these to the library?" People are oblivious.

Don't throw those books away. Don't sell them at garage sales - they don't sell anyway. Donate them to the library.

Books are too precious to be discarded and tossed with garage sale rummage. Donate them to the library. If the library, perchance, gets several copies, it can sell them to raise funds.

Please, people, donate books from estate sales and rummage sales to the library. Donate books.

If you ask at the (library) desk, they will give you a contribution certificate, and then you can deduct the books as charitable contributions on your taxes.

Carson resident sees increase in drug activities

Has anyone besides me been noticing what appears to be drug dealing activities in their neighborhood going on for an extended period of time unfettered by any law enforcement agency?

One of my neighbors has lots of visitors, especially when it gets dark. They almost always park up or down the street, never in front of the house they are visiting, and usually stay for only a few minutes, and off they go.

This activity has been going on for several years now to the extent everyone in the area thinks it is some kind of bad joke.

Isn't somebody supposed to be running some kind of interference with these operations?

I don't understand why some people get arrested while it's business as usual for others.

Lawmakers in D.C. letting WWII veteran down

As an old guy, 88 years old, I once fought during World War II.

I was so very proud to fight for our once-great country with 50 bombing missions in Europe.

But now, it is a very different story as our grand and glorious people in Washington, D.C., are really letting us all down.

They only want to protect their cushy jobs while the rest of us get the short stick.

So I say this - all of them have to be replaced, as they are only thinking of themselves.

In the beginning, I had thought it was about 50 percent, but now I think that it is 100 percent, as they are only thinking of their cushy job, and not us.

As a Christian, I just have to say that we all can see what is happening.

We had better start praying a little bit harder before China takes over this country. I think that we need help.
