Cheers & Kudos for May 1

I want to thank the people of Carson City for the support they gave me with the bake sale to assist the kids in Japan. These kids lost their homes during the earthquake and tsunami. I am happy to say that my mom got a cashier's check from that money that was collected from the bake sale in the amount of $538.26 and is in the mail to the American Red Cross.

Thank you to the people from Carson City who baked cookies, cupcakes, pies, etc. Thank you also to the people who came and donated money. A special thanks to the Carson ATA Black Belt Academy for their support. Thanks to the Ketten Family, especially Kyle and Amberlee, for their help the entire day. Thank you to the Nevada Appeal for listening to my idea and sharing it.

Thanks to my family for helping me.

In effort to supplement the generous donations made to Carson High School Safe Grad grad night made by local residents and businesses, The Safe Grad Committee added an additional fundraiser.

The Safe & Sober 5k was a big success and had a great turn out with fun to be had by all participants. This would not have been possible without the help of our local businesses and their support through sponsorships.

We would like to thank our main sponsor, Kaia F.I.T. for their sponsorship and help promoting our event. Also, thank you to The Firkin & Fox for the use of their location and the complimentary breakfast available to our racers. To CV Sports for hosting our race packet pick up.

A big thank you to our sponsors for their support, Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare, DeBug Computer Inc., Bri-Tech Appliance service, Miles Construction, Advocates to End Domestic Violence, Don & Gladys Langson, Big-O-Tires, Wells Fargo, J & S Embroidery and Silk Screening, Interstate Batteries, Rapunzel's Salon, Fischer Chiropractic, Al's Excavating & Grading.

Carson City's Mayor, Bob Crowell, was our official race starter. We were honored to have him. There were parents and Carson High Students who came and helped out as route directors, and we would like to thank them for volunteering. Steve Lang was our race director who also helped co-ordinate this large event with us. It would not have been possible to pull this off without him.

This was a very successful fundraising event for Carson High School Safe Grad and we hope to make this an annual event.
