Obituary: Frances Lorraine Broyle

Frances Lorraine Broyles, age 88, passed away on the morning of April 25, 2011, at her home in Orangevale, Calif., surrounded by her family. Her family and close friends spent Easter Sunday together, and she was able to convey her love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they in return.

Lorraine was born to Harry Lord Day and Frances Powers on Jan. 5, 1923, in Newark, N.J. After high school she worked for a time in New York City at the Empire State Building and enjoyed her time there.

Lorraine came out to Reno in the spring of 1947 in search of a new adventure where she met and married her husband of 52 years, William (Bill) Owen Broyles. They resided in the Battle Mountain area where two of their three children were born. They moved to Carson City in 1955 where the youngest child was born. They lived, worked and raised their children there. In 1986, Lorraine retired from 28 years of service with the State of Nevada and moved to Oakdale, Calif., eventually settling in the Placerville, Calif., area.

Her passion in life was her dedication and her unconditional love for her family. She enjoyed spending time reading, watching old westerns, world news, and her favorite sports teams, the San Francisco 49ers and the Sacramento Kings. Her greatest joy was family gatherings, especially the holidays. Her charming wit and sense of humor were attributes that personified her personality. She had a deep belief in God and led her life and raised her family by her religious beliefs.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Peggi) Bernier and son-in-law Paul Bernier of Orangevale, son William (Bill) Broyles of Pollock Pines, daughter Christy Hitchings and son-in-law Jack Hitchings of Susanville, Calif.; grandchildren Joshua Diede, Ryan Broyles, Jessica Broyles, Katie Hitchings, and Gina Broyles; great-grandchildren Bailey Diede, Ethan Broyles, and Austin Wiseman.

Final resting place will be in Battle Mountain with her husband, Bill. Plans for her service are pending final arrangements. Family and friends will be notified of the date and time. In lieu of flowers a donation in her name can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Our Mother, Grandmother, and GG will never be forgotten and she will be missed and thought of everyday. Your life has come full circle. You are home now. May you rest in eternal peace.
