Two interpretive outings are being held at Spooner Lake this month.

The Full Moon on the Flume hike will be 7 p.m.-midnight Aug. 13.

It will begin with a drive to Snow Valley Peak to see the full moon coming up. Hikers will then be driven to Marlette Lake and hike about 2 miles out on the famous Flume Trail and then return on the narrow, winding trail under the moonlight.

The evening will finish with a ride down North Canyon back to Spooner Lake. Not recommended for those uncomfortable with heights and narrow paths. For people 15 years and older. Evenings are cool, so dress warmly. Sign up early. Group size is limited to 15, and it fills quickly.

The second will be a Water History of the Comstock Tour 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 12.

Former Back country Ranger Cheryl Surface will lead this informative bus tour of the Spooner back country. Cheryl brings history alive with first- person accounts and stories about Red House, Hobart Reservoir, Marlette Lake, the Flume trail and the Marlette Water System.

Bring lunch, water, a light jacket and your camera. Comfortable shoes are best as there will be some walking. Adults only. Space limited to 15, so sign up early.
