130 YEARS AGO

Serious Accident: Daniel Haskell, a brakeman on the V. & T. sustained a fracture of two ribs and an injury to the spine when braking a car with a piece of wood, common for the trade. The wood snapped with the strain and the brake wheel went free, nearly doubling Haskell.

100 YEARS AGO

Cecil Day caught a couple of Cray fish in the river by the Mexican dam. One is a two-year-old and the other isn't much larger than a shrimp. Within a few years there will be plenty in the river and Washoe lake, where they have been planted.

70 YEARS AGO

Gasoline was rationed by filling stations in Washington, D. C. today. Most filling stations limited sales to three or five gallons per customer.

50 YEARS AGO

The past was reenacted with the Virginia City Camel Races and a track laying contest between Carson and Reno service clubs.

20 YEARS AGO

Pack Llamas are used on the Tahoe Rim Trail to carry equipment.

10 YEARS AGO

Three of Carson City's longtime residents will talk about the history of the city. Gertrude Gottschalk, Will Wieprecht and Willa Oldham Ramsden will speak for the Carson City Landmark Society.
