Last evening Deputy Sheriff Corbett received a dispatch from Wilcox, Arizona, conveying the sad end to his brother, David E. Corbett, an old resident of this city and a man of excellent business habits. A few months ago he was appointed County Judge by Governor Fremont.

100 YEARS AGO

Charles Garillia was brutally beaten in his Manhattan front yard recently. No murder in the history of this camp has stirred the citizens as has this one. Garrilla was well liked, quiet and a hard worker. If the assailant is apprehended, it will be hard to prevent a lynching.

70 YEARS AGO

At the Carson Theatre: "Reaching for the Sun" starring Joel McCrea and Ellen Drew. "Rollicking, Uproarious Romance. Fighting, loving, laughing their way straight into your heart."

50 YEARS AGO

The Capitol City Bowling Association meets tomorrow night in the multi-purpose room at the courthouse, president Maggie Campbell announced. All members are encouraged to attend to discuss policy for the coming months.

20 YEARS AGO

Kirk Erickson hit a slot machine for $1 million at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, but won't get to spend any of it says the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, because Erickson was 19 at the time.

A sneak preview of the Jack C. Davis Observatory is planned to allow the public a chance to see the new telescopes and computer tracking systems.
