A coroner's inquest to the death of Howard Moore, 26, found dead at the Emma Mine at Kimberly was scheduled for two today in Ely. Moore had gone to the head of a raise where a blast had been set off six hours previous and had become overcome with gas fumes, sat down and expired.

The United States sends a Ranger 1 satellite toward a deep space probe, but difficulties caused it to go into earth orbit.
