Carson City sheriff's investigators are warning students and parents to beware after a man in a vehicle tried to persuade a Carson High School student to get into his car.
According to deputies, the girl was walking home from school Monday when she noticed a car following her. After the driver followed her for several blocks, he rolled down his window and shouted, "Get in, I'm giving you a ride."
She screamed and ran from the area.
After following her a short distance, the man drove off.
The car is described as an older yellow two-door sedan with faded paint on the hood and possibly a fabric top. It has two square headlights, with the driver's side light tinted or faded, and a newer looking black leather interior.
The driver was described as wearing a dark brown sweatshirt with writing on the right sleeve.
Detective Sal Acosta asked that anyone with information contact him at the Carson City sheriff's office at 283-7855 or call dispatch immediately at 887-2008.
