For several nights a stranger stole into the Morton House and helped himself to lodgings in one of the best rooms in the establishment without as much as saying "with your leave" to the proprietor. Officers Duncan and Stern were advised of the fact and found the lodger snugly ensconced in a comfortable bed. In his clothes was one of the most ingenious skeleton keys.
100 YEARS AGO
A number of experts in ping pong and other games went to the Comstock last evening. Frank Connelley took the measure of Boots Wilson in the fourth round and it was a lively go. The event of the evening was between Farrell and Williams. The end came in the fourth round when a left to the jaw ended the game for Farrell.
70 YEARS AGO
Christmas trees are placed along both sides of Carson street in special holders. Wires are hung on the large evergreen tree in front of the Capitol. Lights are not installed due to blackout warnings. Gov. E. P. Carville receives word that all enemy alien matters are being handled by the federal government.

Brief ceremonies at the state museum paid tribute to the 80 officers and men who died aboard the battleship Nevada during the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor 20 years ago. December 7 was proclaimed "Pearl Harbor Day" in Nevada.

The controversial proposal to run a V&T trolley through downtown Carson City died a quiet death yesterday at the Board of Supervisors meeting saying the proposal lacked sufficient support.
