A man was arrested on multiple drug charges early Saturday after deputies were called to the Silver Queen Hotel to handle a reported domestic battery.
Anthony Scott, 36, of Modesto, Calif., was stopped by deputies at 4:24 a.m. as he tried to exit the hotel while acting suspiciously, according to the arrest report. At the same time, deputies questioned a woman staying at the hotel who said she had had an argument with another man who left the scene. Deputies then spotted a bag in the room that appeared to contain a variety of drugs as well as a Taser.
She said she didn't own the bag but, outside, Scott admitted the bag was his, police said, and was placed under arrest. In part because of the packaging of the drugs, he was charged with felonies including drug trafficking, possession of controlled substances for sale and being an ex-felon in possession of a weapon - the Taser. He faces misdemeanor charges for possession of the prescription drugs, possession of paraphernalia and the marijuana. He also faces a charge of obstructing a peace officer.
Deputies reported confiscating in excess of 7 grams of methamphetamine packaged in small bags; possession of marijuana, in brick form as well as leaf, also all wrapped in smaller quantities; a bag of prescription pills; and a meth pipe.
Scott's total bail on the charges is $58,900.
Finally, a check revealed an outstanding drug trafficking warrant on Scott in California.
