Christmas Eve at the Presbyterian Church there was a well laden Christmas tree, with gifts distributed by Santa Claus, Professor H.H. Howe, after singing and recitations. The Methodist Church had a double tree joined by an evergreen arch, profusely covered in presents. After musical entertainment and literary exercises, the gifts were distributed by Dr. Herrick - Santa Claus. The Episcopal Church had no tree, but instead set a very fine supper for the children in the Sunday School Room, which was heartily relished by the little ones who enjoyed themselves hugely.

Nevada's holiday highway deaths stands at four today. Thus far, 197 persons have been killed in traffic mishaps. The death toll is far above the previous record set in 1959, with the grim possibility it could exceed the 200 mark with the New Year weekend still to come.

A lonely, late-night radar operator reports seeing a blip on the radar screen of a strange object rising from the North Pole at supersonic speed.

Tests are pending in another Fallon leukemia cluster case, state heath officials confirmed Monday. The case would bring to 15 the number of children with ties to the area since 1997.
