Western Nevadans are invited to learn how to get over fear at a worship service at 10 a.m. Feb. 19 at the Carson City Community Center. The session "Learn the Antidote for Fear" is sponsored by Eckankar, Religion of the Light and Sound of God.
During this fee one-hour service, a skilled facilitator will give a brief talk, followed by readings, a small-group discussion and a short contemplation.

The top six religious groups by world population will be represented weekly through April 7. Church leaders discuss the history of their particular religions, tenets of the faith and the group's position in the world today.
The series includes talks by Rajan Zed of the Universal Society of Hinduism on Feb. 24, Father Nathan Mamo of St. Gall Catholic Church on March 3, the Rev. Phil Bryan of Reno Buddhist Church on March 10, Iman Abdul Barghouti on Islam on March 24, Rabbi Jonathan Freirich of Temple Bat Yam on March 31 and the Rev. Pete Nelson on April 7.
Native Nevadan, Nelson graduated with a degree in speech communication from the University of Nevada, Reno, and received a Master of Divinity at Pacific School of Religion. He is an ordained elder with the Methodist church and has served in Carson Valley for 28 years.
