130 YEARS AGO

Zinc Barnes as a Law Maker. Yesterday Zinc strolled into the Senate and seeing Brumsey's seat vacant, appropriated it. When the ayes and noes were called on one of Haine's pet bills, relative to estray animals, Zinc put a newspaper up before his face and noted "No". This vote killed the bill. Baldwin tried the same game with Doolin's seat, but the Eureka Senator arrived just time time to block the game.

100 YEARS AGO

Lately articles have appeared in the state press concerning the tracks found in rocks in different sections of Nevada. The discovery of tracks at the state prison created quite a flurry. The track is so large, being nearly 20 inches, that it seems impossible that any human being ever lived with a foot capable of making such an imprint.

70 YEARS AGO

The number of millionaires going "back to the land" has increased in Nevada in the past few years with 24 now making the Silver State their home. Among the noted are Peter Jackson, Major Max Fleischmann, Eric Cord, Wilbur May, and Roland Hill.

50 YEARS AGO

Boy Scouts from all parts of the state, some 133 of them, today took over the executive, legislative and judicial posts in the state government as part of Nevada Scout Day.

20 YEARS AGO

Senator Nick Horn, D-Las Vegas, has been authorized by the Senate Finance Committee to try to strike a deal on purchasing stones from the Virginia & Truckee Railroad roundhouse.

10 YEARS AGO

The Nevada State Press Association moves into the Rinckel Mansion. The mansion was purchased through a $1 million contribution from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation to create a press center.
