Rebate check to be presented at City Hall

NV Energy will present Mayor Bob Crowell with a solar rebate check in the lobby of City Hall at 11 a.m Tuesday for installing a solar photovoltaic system at its Public Works facility.

The system is estimated to produce over 150,000 KWH of clean renewable power each year. This accounts for approximately 60 percent in energy reduction and an equivalent of 110 metric tons of carbon monoxide removed annually. Actual production currently is being monitored and displayed at both lobbies of the City Hall and Public Works facilities.

"This project is a demonstration of the Carson City's commitment to energy efficiency, renewable power generation, greenhouse gas reduction and sustainability," said Mayor Bob Crowell. "We offer a special thanks to all parties who participated in the various aspects of the completion of this project."

The photovoltaic system project was made possible through funding by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act's Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant and a solar rebate incentive under NV Energy's Renewable Generations program.

Cooperation and commitment by the board of supervisors, administrative staff and the Public Works Department made this project a reality. Development, design, and construction was performed by PacificWest Energy Solutions and Reliant Electric.
