Homeless family housing available

Friends In Service Helping has one single-family, low-income house available for a homeless family, and is accepting applications, according to Reed Robbins, FISH's director of human services.

There are four qualifications that must be met:

• Applicant families must be homeless or facing homelessness;

• There must be a child or children in the family;

• A family must have one parent who works a minimum of 40 hours a week and earns minimum wage or more per hour.

• An applicant needs to have a favorable credit report.

The three-bedroom house is located on Stewart Indian School property, is spacious and has a fenced backyard.

Mystery dinner fundraiser planned

The Emblem Club No. 507 presents "Wine and Murder" play and dinner on Feb. 26 at the Elks Lodge, 515 N. Nevada St. Cocktail hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the dinner theater benefit local charities. Reservations are $20 in advance. Purchase tickets at the Elks Lodge bar or call 246-1543 or 882-2177 after 3 p.m.

Help raise money for cancer victims

Three local residents have formed a St. Baldrick's fundraising team to raise $4,000 for childhood cancer victims. If they can meet their goal by St. Patrick's Day, all three will shave their hair off at the local St. Baldrick's event. They will then donate their hair to Locks of Love.

Happy Senior Tours travels to Boomtown

The Carson City Senior Center's "Happy Senior Tours" group will travel to Boomtown on March 8. To make reservations, or for more information, call 884-9357 and leave a message.

The bus will load at 7:45 a.m., in the east parking lot of the senior center. It will depart at 8:15 a.m. and return to the center at 4 p.m.

Dance class to begin in Dayton

The Dayton Senior Center is starting dance classes for fitness.

Jazz Moves and JazzRobics begin soon at the Dayton Senior Center, 320 Old Dayton Valley Road.

Learn jazz dance technique and combinations in simple format by professional choreographer. Includes an aerobics component for fitness buffs.

Classes will be 4-4:45 p.m. Tuesdays and cost $2 per class. The start date depends on registrations.
