Amy E. McGillvray Hall was born and raised in Montana, a descendant of one of the state's earliest pioneer families. After attending a two-room elementary school in Avon, Mont., and completing high school she attended Gonzaga University and Washington State University. Amy graduated as a registered nurse from Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Spokane, Wash., in 1946.
Amy was an active volunteer in the communities in which she lived, being the first coordinator for the Union County Oregon Mental Health Clinic in LaGrande, Ore. Amy also worked professionally with her husband, with whom she was married for 38 years.
While living in Carson City, Amy especially enjoyed her friends in P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization), Mark Twain Garden Club, Nevada State Museum, Docent council and Carson City Presbyterian Church.
Amy was preceded in death by her husband Richard E. Hall, M.D., and her parents William and Jennie Nelson McGillvray.
Amy is survived by her three children and their families, Richard (Dan) and wife Falinda, granddaughters Kelsey and Elizabeth and great-granddaughter Adelie Hall; Gillvray (Gill) and Martha and grandsons Matthew and Nick Hall; Amy (Liz) and Stephen Lugg, grandsons Gunter (wife Megan) and Christopher Lugg.
Interment will take place in Carson City Nevada Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers Amy's favorite charities include: St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and Yellowstone Boys & Girls Ranch
