Economy - Legislative positions to be dispensed with: It has long been agreed that there are too many needless copying clerks. In some cases the copying of these bills is a matter for the clerks who frequently do not write any better hand than legislators. It is now proposed to have each member get his bills copied at his own expense or secure the services of parties who can write "clean copy" - or have them copied by typewriters. Typewriting greatly facilitates the work of printing.

70 YEARS AGO

Officers of the Carson City Ski Club announced that the new upski will be in operation at the Clear Creek or Spooner Summit. Conditions for skiing are reported good with two feet of solid snow. Club members will be charged 75 cents per day for use of the upski, $1.00 for nonmembers.

50 YEARS AGO

Rodney Foxworth, son of a Marine sergeant, is Carson City's first baby and winner of Carson City's "First Baby Contest." Gifts include - first bank account from Union Federal Savings and Loan; sterling silver cup from Capital Jewelers; one dozen diapers from Murdock's, $10 worth of baby supplies from Gilbert Drug.

Mary Pierczynski will replace Jim Parry as superintendent of schools as he steps down from his post at the end of June. "I'm really looking forward to taking over," Pierczynski said.

"It's a great school district and we have a great community."
