Athletes of any level are prone to injuries, but being prepared for winter sports, including skiing and snowboarding, can be the best education any winter athlete can have.
Join Tahoe Orthopedics & Sports Medicine's Dr. Terrance Orr, orthopedic surgeon and Chris Proctor, Barton Health physical therapist, for a free discussion 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Lake Tahoe Community College, Aspen Room, 2170 South Ave., South Lake Tahoe. The hour will focus on injury prevention, surgical options and sport-specific conditioning.
"In some cases injuries are related to snow sport accidents that were unpreventable, but in a lot of cases these injuries are related to a lack of pre-season conditioning and/or overtraining," Proctor said. "Snow sports are a big part of our lifestyle, but our talk also will include preventative measures for court and field sports."
Attend any four of Barton's 2011 wellness lectures, and receive an attendance "punch card" and automatically be entered to win a 2011/2012 season pass to a Lake Tahoe ski/snowboard resort and other prizes.
