BANN to host forecast on construction market
The Builders Association of Northern Nevada will host "Forecast 2011 and Beyond" at the Atlantis Hotel Casino on Jan. 26.
The event will include presentations from Mark Krueger of Grubb and Ellis, Tim Ruffin of Colliers International and Elliott Eisenberg, an economist for the National Association of Home Builders.
Cost is $40 to attend and includes breakfast. Doors open at 7:15 a.m.

Carson City dog trainer offers free one-hour training
Carson Dog Sports, 5242 Highway 50 E., will offer a series free one-hour classes in the coming months.
Each class is geared toward introducing a dog and its owner to a fun activity without the commitment of needing to sign up for a multi-week class.
"This is the time of year when people are setting personal goals and resolutions for themselves and tend to forget about their four-legged family member," said owner Chris Vaught. "We would like to offer people a chance to set and obtain a New Year's resolution of training for their dog. By offering these small classes it will give people a chance try something new with their dogs."
The free classes include:
• Introduction to Dog Agility on Jan. 15 at 3 p.m.
• Introduction to Canine Freestyle on Feb. 20 at 1 p.m.
• Introduction to Tricks Training on March 12 at 4 p.m.

Virginia City man to publish 11th book
Tom Taormina of Virginia City has signed a contract with Lawyers and Judges Publishing to write a book with the working title "Liability Forensics: Minimizing Cost and Maximizing Outcomes in Products Liability Litigation."
The book will be the 11th written by the consultant.

Wife of sheriff candidate joins realty firm
Theresa Guimont, the wife of Carson City sheriff candidate Bob Guimont, has joined Intero Real Estate Services as a Realtor. Intero is based in Gardnerville and Markleeville, Calif.
The firm was founded in 2002 and has 60 offices in the region.
