A Sunridge woman was injured when an 18-wheeler couldn't stop in time to prevent hitting the side of her silver Mitsubishi at Mica Drive and Highway 395 in Douglas County.
The accident was reported at 9:40 a.m. Monday.
Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chuck Allen said the 54-year-old woman was pulling out from Mica when her vehicle was struck on the driver's side by the southbound semi hauling dog food. Allen said the driver of the semi was not able to stop in time for the red light.
The woman was taken by Care Flight ambulance helicopter to Renown Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. Traffic was cleared by 11 a.m.
