Mr. Laycock has painted a new drop curtain for the stage and the people of Eureka. The scene is laid in Venice and represents La Dugano. This is exactly the way the same picture looks in the Carson Opera House. The proposition of the artist to give them a brand new drop-curtain was doubtless a Venetian blind.

Golden's phonograph: The first nickel in the slot phonograph to reach this city has been purchased by Mr. Golden and is on exhibition at his jewelry store. It gives heavenly music for ten cents.

March of Dimes: The "March of Dimes of the Air" under the direction of Eddie Cantor will be supported by scores of celebrities. Among these are Bing Crosby, Ezra Stone, Fred Allen, Amos 'n Andy, Edward G. Robinson.

Vandalism: Juveniles broke the windows of Joe Dolan's jeep and smashed the battery. The boys, both 12 years old, were found in the nearby underbrush after deputy sheriff Dan McDaniels followed their tracks.

Power shortage: Governor Kenny Guinn is taking steps to ensure that California's power problems don't create gasoline shortages in Nevada. The pipeline supplying gasoline, jet fuel and diesel from San Francisco Bay area to Sparks remained shut off for 12 hours Friday to conserve energy.
