A 20-year-old Carson City man accused of throwing his 1-year-old daughter while she was strapped in a car seat during a domestic dispute with the mother was arrested last week.

According to the police report, the incident happened Dec. 12 in the 700 block of Hot Springs Road when Joseph Rodgers and his live-in fiance got into a heated argument.

Rodgers became enraged after his fiance told him she was taking the child and leaving, according to the report, and he allegedly threw the baby seat containing his daughter down a hallway.

The fiance's sister and Rodgers started to physically fight and she was hit in the face, according to the report.

Rodgers then fled on foot while the fiance called 911. The child had no visible injuries and the mother refused medical assistance.

Meanwhile, deputies could not locate Rodgers and arrested a man who fit Rodgers' description. They let him go after learning they had detained the wrong man.

Deputies found Rodgers at 9:20 p.m. Thursday on the 700 block of Hot Springs Road after he called the police to report someone had sent him threatening text messages.

After deputies arrived, they performed a background check and arrested Rodgers on the outstanding warrant from the December incident on suspicion of felony child abuse and misdemeanor domestic battery. Bail was set at $15,000.
