WNC News & Notes: Theater troupe presents musical revue of classic hits

Enjoy an energetic and fun evening when the Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company performs "Good Vibrations," a high-spirited oldies revue, Feb. 11-13, at the Carson City Community Center. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday. Tickets are $22 for adults, $20 for seniors over 62, and

$18 for children younger than 18.

The performance stars a troupe of 40 singers and dancers, featuring a number of recent WNMTC performers: Leoney Berg, Saundra Chaon Whitt, Dianne Hale, Maria Arrigotti, Carla Wilson and Christopher Willson. Some 28 soloists will entertain audiences with non-stop hits, such as "Dancing in the Street," "Johnny Angel," "Unchained Melody," "Do You Love Me," "Great Balls of Fire," "YMCA" and the Glee version of "Lean on Me."

"Good Vibrations" plays for one weekend only, and promises great entertainment for a Valentine's Day date. For tickets, call 445-4249.

Scholarship deadline approaches

Those seeking a scholarship to attend Western Nevada College in the 2011-2012 academic year must submit an online scholarship application by Tuesday, March 1. WNC awards more than 125 scholarships each year to help students achieve their academic goals.

Scholarships are available for any combination of academics, fields of study, financial needs, special interest activities, community service and more.
