Carson City residents Elizabeth Howard, Brittany Lewis and Adrienne Madsen were three of 15 students recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship certificate from Greater Nevada Credit Union.
More than 88 students throughout Northern Nevada applied for the program, which the credit union has offered for the past 12 years. Howard is attending the University of Nevada, Reno. Both Lewis and Madsen are attending Western Nevada College.
"It's our pleasure to provide financial support to some of the region's best students so they can continue their education," said Wally Murray, President/CEO for Greater Nevada Credit Union.
The scholarships were awarded on a competitive basis and winners were selected based on their financial need, academic performance, school and community involvement, and recommendations from school and community leaders. The $1,000 scholarships can be used for tuition, course registration, special class or laboratory fees, room and board, textbooks and class materials.
