Comet: The reward of $200 for each new comet discovered has not caused many men to go into comet discovering as a regular business. It is not certain enough to enable a man to support his family on it.

Electric corset: Paris is laughing over a joke about an American inventor said to have patented an electric corset. If one of these articles is pressed by a lover's arm, it at once emits a shriek like the whistle of a railway engine. The inventor claims that he has already married three of his daughters owing to the publicity thus thrust upon a backward lover.

70 YEARS AGO

Charles Lindberg: Offered to submit to a presidential investigation because of accusations Secretary of the Interior Harold Ickes made that Lindberg was "connected with the interests of a foreign government."

50 YEARS AGO

Cape Canaveral: Everything is "A-OK" for America's second man-in-space travel. NASA confirmed that 35-year-old Air Force Capt. Virgil I. Grissom will be the pilot aboard "Liberty Bell 7." Marine Lt. Col. John H. Glenn Jr., will be backup man for Grissom as he was for Navy Cmdr. Alan B. Shepard Jr.

20 YEARS AGO

Air Museum at Minden: Flying demonstrations and plane rides will highlight groundbreaking ceremonies at the Douglas County Airport for the first phase of the Nevada Air Museum.

10 YEARS AGO

Brewery Arts is offering classes by Darla Bayer who is in her 12th year of teaching the "Imagination in Action" class at the Brewery Arts Center. Her next class will have a circus theme.
