Silverada Little League of Dayton captured the 10-11 District 3 all-star tournament in Elko on Thursday night.
Silverada was undefeated in the tournament and beat Ruby Mountain by a score of 15 -1 in the championship game to advance to the state tournament in Henderson on Thursday night. It was Silverada's first-ever 10-11 district title, according to league officials.
Silverada advanaced thanks to a 17-4 win over Fernley and a 9-7 win over Ruby Mountain.
Trevor Burrows was the winning pitcher in the title game, allowing four hits and striking out 10 batters. Max Madson got the final out of the game.
Offensively, Silverada was led by Zach Woitas and Dylan Baker. Woitas went 4-for-4 with four runs scored. Baker had a two-run homer in the fifth.
In the first game, Silverada 10-runned High Desert Little League (Fernley).
Silverada scored eight runs in the first and coasted from there en route to a 17-4 victory.
With a day off and all pitchers eligible, Silverada was geared up to play Elko Little League, who the night before had beaten Ruby Mountain. Hours before game time, it was discovered that Elko had accidentally used an ineligible player and would have to forfeit the game, setting up the first of two between Ruby Mountain and Silverada.
Ruby Mountain bolted to a 5-0 lead, but Silverada fought back with four runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Isaiah Yoder led off with a walk, and CJ Willhite and Ben Phillips had back-to-back bunts to load the bases. Cole Cryer and Colin Winebarger each had RBI walks and Woitas hit a single to bring in a run. Burrows had a sacrifice fly to make it 5-4.
Ruby Mountain scored twice more for a 7-4 lead only to see Silverada roar back for five runs and the win.
In the fifth inning, Silverada led off with a single by Yoder and Ben Phillips walked. After a strikeout, Winebarger walked to load the bases. Woitas then singled to clear the bases. He ended up on third because of an overthrow and scored on a single by Burrows.
Ruby Mountain threatened in the sixth, but Burrows was able to put out the fire.
