State Route 429, also known as Bowers Mansion Road, will be closed beginning at 5 p.m. today from Highway 395 to Davis Creek Camp Road for about a year while the freeway interchange is completed, according to state transportation officials.
A detour has been created from Davis Creek Camp Road to Parker Ranch Road, which exits onto Highway 395 next to the Chocolate Nugget Candy Factory.
The detour will not affect traffic on Highway 395 unless high-wind warnings for large vehicles are in place or other conditions are present that affect travel through Washoe Valley.
During these prohibitions, all commercial and high-profile vehicles will be required to take the indicated alternate route. This will likely cause traffic problems for vehicles entering and exiting 395 at Parker Ranch Road, and may require targeted traffic control.
In addition to this, beginning at 7 tonight, the southbound lanes at Bowers turnoff will be reduced to one lane and shifted east onto the newly paved portion next to the NB lanes. Both southbound lanes will be reopened by 6 p.m. Saturday.
