Silverado beats Carson for Little League title

Silverado captured the 11-12 Nevada State Little League Tournament defeating Carson City 9-6 on Monday night.

Silverado defeated Carson twice in the tournament, winning a 15-14 game on Friday.

On Sunday, Carson kept its season alive behind solid pitching from Kyle Krebs. Krebs tossed a complete game, earning the 4-3 win. He struck out seven without allowing a walk.

Carson jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Jayden DeJoseph walked and then scored on a two-run home run by Jace Keema. Cheyenne cut the lead with a run in the third inning. Krebs would add the deciding runs with his own two-run homer to score DeJoseph, who had walked.

Krebs would hold off the defending two-time state champions.

Silverada ends successful season

The Silverada Little League 10-11 team dropped its first two games of the state tournament on Friday and Saturday. The team dropped a 4-1 decision to North Summerlin to open the tournament. Silverada allowed four unearned runs. Carlos Landa, Colin Winebarger and Nick Hein all pitched well for the team.

Aiden Howe scored on Landa's single to net the team's only run.

The team returned on Saturday and dropped a 17-2 decision against Washoe.

"The kids played hard and never quit," coach Mike Burrows said. "We are proud of them."

Burrows said the team knows the game, and he said that if they continue to keep getting better, he expects them to be a contender for the state title in the next few years.
