All sorts: There are four steamers plying on Lake Bigler - the "Governor Stanford," "Emerald," "Niagara" and "Meteor."

"Lucky" Baldwin will build a hall for dancing and theatrical purposes, adjoining the Tallac House at the Lake.

120 YEARS AGO

A Duck Story: A hunter got after a flock of didaper ducks that are said to be able to dodge a bullet. The hunter shot away all his cartridges without hitting one. When the didapers saw a puff of smoke, they would dive under the water. The hunter determined not to be outdone began to puff on his cigar as fast as he could. This way he kept the ducks under water until he drowned the entire flock. (Richmond Democrat).

70 YEARS AGO

Plans were made for Boy Scout Troop No. 33 to assist in the aluminum drive. Scouts who will participate are Burke Shaughnessy, Billy Joyce, Charles Marriage, Harley Smelser, Johnny Warmouth, Jackie Smelser, Jack Christensen, Donald Lane and Jimmy Allen.

The 1991 Virginia City International Camel Races have been scheduled for September. Race organizers predict 25,000 people will attend.
