Weslyan church hosts southern gospel concerts

The Liberty Quartet will present a free concert 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday at Good Shepherd Wesleyan Church, 1505 Railroad Dr (corner Saliman/Railroad).An offering will be received to help the group with travel expenses.

VBS goes to Main Street

First Christian Church will host vacation Bible school at 6-8:30 p.m. Aug. 8-12.

This years theme is Main Street, where Jesus makes a difference every day. The VBS is free and the kids will have a blast dancing, singing, making crafts, games and learning how Jesus makes a difference in their life.

First Christian Church is located at 2211 Mouton Drive in Carson City. For more information, call 883-4836.

Interfaith picnic to benefit charities

An interfaith picnic will gather noon-5 p.m. Sunday in Mills Park with members and clergy of at least 11 faiths coming together to help those less fortunate.

Diverse clergy will speak briefly starting at 1 p.m. on the value of treating others as we would want to be treated, or why it is important to help others, as taught by their faith tradition. There will be a variety of non-denominational music and a Peace Cake.

Bring your own picnic, outdoor games, and at least one food item for F.I.S.H., the local food bank. The event will take place in Mills Park, Pavilions B and C. Enter from Saliman Road.
