130 YEARS AGO

The Tallac House, owned by Lucky Baldwin and run for many years by "Yank" will be in the future under the management of Sharp Bros. The work of renovation will begin at once, as Baldwin proposes to make it the leading resort of the lake. It is situated in the loveliest grove of big trees to be found anywhere and within half an hour's drive of the best fishing grounds on the lake.

100 YEARS AGO

P.M. Bowler and J. M. Jones left Hawthorne Monday for a month's prospecting south. Their wagon was loaded with a side of bacon, box of sardines, four picks, two corkscrews, 400 packs of cigarettes and $7 worth of matches. J.M. discourses on everything geologic, but oil is his strong suit.

70 YEARS AGO

Catholic priests of Nevada to the number of about 25 will arrive at Glenbrook Inn this afternoon for their annual retreat.

50 YEARS AGO

Traffic deaths passed the 300 mark today toward a new Memorial Day holiday record. Overall there were 310 traffic fatalities, 60 drownings, one plane death, and 50 miscellaneous deaths.

20 YEARS AGO

A bill to expand rights of workers to inspect personnel files was killed on a 17-25 voted in the Assembly today. The bill request was made because of inappropriate material in worker files.

10 YEARS AGO

The new Nevada National Guard Readiness Center has been named for Douglas County's Sen. Lawrence Jacobsen, R-Minden.
