100 YEARS AGO

Fred Cushing took a horseback ride over Kings Canyon yesterday as far as the summit. He states the road above Heidenreichs is in bad condition. In a number of places large boulders have rolled into the road. They will have to be blasted. Many small gullies leading from the roadside have filled the route with debris.

70 YEARS AGO

A special election will be held July 8 to issue bonds for the construction of a sewage disposal and treatment plant, sewer pipe, power light and water connections for Carson, federal, state and county institutions.

50 YEARS AGO

A grandmother and three youngsters were saved but two young boys died when a fire broke out in the second story of a frame house at 1101 E. Fifth St.
