Lyon County police are on the scene of an apparent murder and attempted suicide in Silver Springs.

According to a press release, officers were called out to a home at 3466 Deodar Street just before 1 p.m. by a man who claimed he'd just killed his girlfriend and he was going to kill himself.

The man also said there was a child in the home and "tell the cop to come on in," the release states.

When deputies entered the home they found Tia Shine, 31, dead of a gunshot wound to the head in the living room. A man, identified as Leland Scott Lawson, 33, was also found in the living room with a gunshot wound to the head.

Lawson was still alive and taken from the scene by a helicopter to the Reno trauma center. The extent of his injuries was not immediately available.

According to Lyon County Sheriff's Sgt. Ryan Powell, the couple's 16-month-old son was found unharmed in a bedroom.

A birth announcement in the Lahontan Valley News indicates Shine gave birth to a son in January 2010.
