Four TechCamps 2K11, are slated for this summer and are open to students ages 10-15 years and offer participants a chance, not only to learn about computers but also to build a 2 gigahertz-plus computer system for their use or for some needy family.

The camps are hosted by ComputerCorps, a Carson City nonprofit organization that works to help citizens become involved in computers.

The program "Every Home a Classroom" not only gives students a chance to get started in the computer world but also gives them the equipment to move successfully into the future business world.

It's not all work during these TechCamps. Students will be able to enjoy a fun learning experience and compete for awards.

There will be four TechCamps this summer:

• TechCamp Alpha, June 13-24

• TechCamp Bravo, July 11-22

• TechCamp Charlie, July 26-Aug. 5

• TechCamp Delta, Aug. 8-19.

Sessions are 1:30-4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Space is limited to 20 students per camp.

All TechCamps are open for registration. Fee is $350 for the two-week sessions and includes a computer system, camp shirt, graduation ceremony and, best of all, a lifetime of learning. Call ComputerCorps at (775) 883-2323 to sign up.

Volunteers are needed as counselors and team leaders. Call the number above.

Computer systems the students will receive are a 2 gigahertz computer, including a monitor, keyboard, mouse, sound card, speakers, CDRW, Microsoft Windows XP, Open Office, games, learning software and Internet cable.

All classes will take place in ComputerCorps' facilities in Carson City.
