Aces lose again to Sky Sox

COLORADO SPRINGS - Reno was limited to just three hits and saw starter Kevin Mulvey leave after two innings with an injury Friday night, as the Aces suffered a 6-4 defeat to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Security Service Field.

At the plate for Reno, Tony Abreu, Kyle Greene and Evan Frey each collected a hit. Greene recorded an RBI single for his third run driven in with the Aces. Collin Cowgill scored and drew a pair of walks, but went hitless, stopping his streak at 17 games.

McAlman takes 19th in NCAAs

DES MOINES, Iowa - Nevada senior Constance McAlman, a Carson High graduate, placed 19th in the hammer throw, failing to make the finals at the NCAA Championships.

McAlman's best mark of the day was her second of three attempts, throwing 183'1" (55.80 meters).

Idaho State junior Mike Arnold, another Carson High grad, finished in a three-way tie for 20th place in the pole vault on Wednesday.

Arnold cleared a height of 16-4 3/4.

Bullets win league opener over Lodi

LODI, Calif. - The Nevada Bullets opened the Far West League season with a 7-3 win over the California Glory Friday night.

The teams continue the three-game series tonight at 7.

WNC's Andrew Woeck worked the first 6 2/3 innings, striking out 10 and allowing just five hits.

"He threw well," said Bullets manager Jim Blueberg. "It was a dynamite game until the eighth."

That's when Nevada scored four times to take a 7-2 lead.

Chris Woolley, Brooks Klein and Craig Merideth had run-scoring hits. Colby Blueberg scored the other run after walking, stealing second and third. he scored on the steal of third when the catcher threw the ball away.

Klein and Ray Daniels drove in the first two runs for the Bullets.
