Aces pound 23 hits to beat Colorado
COLORADO SPRINGS - The Reno Aces pounded out 23 hits to knock off Colorado Springs 14-4 Saturday night.
Every Reno starter, including pitcher Barry Enright collected at least one hit.
Willy Mo Pena went 5-for-6 and drove in thre runs , while Cody Ransom went 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBI. Pena raised his average to .341.
Mark went 3-for-5, while Evan Frey, Collin Cowgill, Tony Abreu, Kyle Greene, Konrad Schmidt and Enright had two hits apiece. Enright and Hallberg drove in two runs apiece.
Ransom's two-run homer in the fifth gave Reno a 5-1 lead and proved to be the game-winning hit.
Enright worked six innings, allowing a run and two hits to pick up his fourth win in six decisions.
Bullets win second straight over Lodi
LODI - C.J. Maldanado went 3-for-5 with a homer, double and two runs scored to lead the Nevada Bullets to a 7-3 win over the Lodi Glory Saturday at Tony Zupo Field.
The win was Nevada's second straight over Lodi. The teams conclude the three-game Far West League series today at 1:10 p,m.
"Our starting pitching has been really good," Nevada manager Jim Blueberg said. "Tyson threw well; hit 91 on the radar gun."
Flannery threw five innings, allowing two runs and five hits. Tyler Spencer threw the last two innings and struck out two batters.
After Lodi grabbed a 2-0 lead, the Bullets answered back with a run in the fourth on C.J. Maldanado's double.
In the fifth, the Bullets' Ryan Eustice walked and scored on a double by Chris Woolley to make it 2-2.
Maldanado gave the Bullets a 3-2 lead with a solo homer in the sixth. Colby Blueberg walked, stole second and scored on a double by Griffin Kirsch to make it 4-2.
In the eighth, Eustice singled and came around to score on an error to make it 5-2.
After Lodi scored in the bottom of the eighth to make it 5-3, Craig Merideith doubled home two runs to complete the scoring.
"We've kept it close and won it in the end," Blueberg said. "That has worked both nights."
